Sea levels are rising stoked by our warming climate. The federal government has come up with an answer sure to make wall-builders happy: an enormous series of sea walls and tidal gates to “protect” the NY/NJ region. Empower NJ believes it’s better to stop fueling rising sea levels by not building more infrastructure fueling this rise.
In the 1930s, the French built the Maginot Line to prevent an invasion from the Germans; the Germans just went around the wall and invaded via Belgium. The Atlantic Ocean would go around this wall, too. Read more about the project in this northjersey.com article.
